Blood Meridian

While working on this canvas I was drawn back to Cormac McCarthy's book Blood Meridian. The white skulls, the red line but even more the impression of clay and mud reminded me of the first chapter. At the time I did not know McCarthy was connected to the Santa Fe Institute.
